you can get some if you go to Boquillas Del Carmen, Mexico, right across the border from Big Bend National Park. It's a rowboat crossing from the park land into the village, the Border Patrol station is on the highway out of the park. The legend goes that if the yellow lights are flashing on the sig...

REM and Wilco played the roadie's wedding. Didn't you hear? Eighty out of the 100 people who saw the REM show left when REM started packing up their gear, but the 20 people who stayed in the bowling alley got to see a completely spontaneous set by Wilco! Amazing. Bet those 80 people wish they had st...

Yeah, I was at a bar in Athens that night, and a guy with a cummerbund came in, and reported that REM had just played the roadie's wedding... my friend (I only have one friend) and I spent the next day telling people that REM invited down their friends in Wilco who also played a set at the wedding. ...

Re: Pretenders - The Singles. Awesome.

Amen, dude. What a bunch of great songs. Isn't it cool how the band could go from straight up rock and roll crunch to cuddlin' up and pulling your heart strings? I like Drakkar Sauna. as in Drakkar Noir cologne. Good band, too. They really sound like they came from a parallel world. Plus, they came here to Athens and opened their set with "Are You Ready To Die?" by the Louvin Brothers.

Slave mentality. Let's all throw ourselves at the feet of St. Alex. Let the exultant paragraphs roll forth! Even if dear St. Alex thinks his own record is shit, he's wrong, because he can do no wrong! Alex is amazing because he isn't trying to win our approval, even if he is technically a musical pe...

Chilton is overrated just because he's like the father of power pop, the most obvious link between the Beatles and everything else, that's a heavy tag to have hanging on you. I try to appreciate him for the stuff that seemed to come from an honest place. He says he hates Big Star Third/Sister Lovers...
