Kudos to Gov. Henry. The Flaming Lips are pure genius.

Washington (state) should adopt "Overblown" by Mudhoney or "Underneath The Bridge" by Nirvana. I'd be satisfied with "Magic Man" or "Barracuda" by Heart, though.

The Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane" could use some actual hurricane sound effects (wind shear, smashing shit up, people screaming, etc.). Jewel's entire catalogue could use some yodeling. In the late 60s/early 70s there seemed to be a common song on many albums - a veritably unliste...

Warning: Audiophile Snobbery A ripped MP3 will never sound as good as a CD. MP3s, if you use iTunes, are generally imported at 128Kbps and a CD is encoded at 44,100Kbps. I rip mine at 160Kbps - which to me sounds a lot better than 128Kbps but keeps the file size minimal. At home, I have a Sony 5.1 S...

Not sure if this matters, but chalk up one more vote for Mick. I asked my office mate (who is not a Glono poster, so that's why I'm not sure if it matters) who he thought the quintessential rock singer was. His unbiased, man-on-the-street response (not being privvy to the discussion, except for my v...

Oceanographer and A Weather both use the glockenspiel to good effect, but they are not accenting anything, rather they use the glock as a counterpoint to the actual melody. Neither one are using bar chords. I typically dislike vibrato on the voice, trumpets in rock and roll (to this there are a few ...

That's why I asked where it was, so I could be lazy and not actually have to look for it!

If I was ever confronted with "releasing the Hammer" in some type of emergency, chances are I would die in the resulting cataclysm (of either said emergency or from what releasing the Hammer would actually do).
