Are you sure about that? I had assumed he was using the SoundScan charts that combine physical and digital album sales... The chart had the Hold Steady sales as 3 weeks which refers back to the physical release on July 17th. The digital release was last week in June. Didnt see any July numbers for ...

Its a little funny his blog is on the impact of the digital world on record sales and then he quotes sales figures that dont include digital sales. The Hold Steady released the album about a month ahead of the physical release in digital format and I believe moved a nice figure in digital sales. So ...

top 10

1. The National- Boxer- lived up to the deserved hype. Nice u-turn from 2 years ago when the hipsters where leaving before their headlining set. 2. Centromatic- Operation Motorcide. A stunning work. 74 Scars, 74 Cuts; Atlanta; Circuits to Circuses. Its seems Will Johnson is uniting his musical parts...

You sound like a complete Jag

I just hope to god you stop going out in public. Yea I was jabbering to my friend about Lucinda and then walked out- stopped by and saw this other guy whom was pretty good after I yelled at him. God its idiots like you that make it unpleasant to see acts. Essence is a great album- its only suffers b...

I have never heard of Will I AM so I cant say I am surprised that he hasnt sold. Spoon's release will be their highest selling CD in a couple weeks passing Gimmie Fiction(160k units) and are the model this guy usually is praising building an extremely loyal following over years and years which leads...

2007 right now tied

1a. Centromatic- Will Johnson just quietly releases bombs and incremently develops his sound a release at a time. But damn- Operation Motorcide- going 8 tracks long(usually a perfect size) is about as addictive as music can get ie the Desparodo Seinfeld episode. 2a. The National- Boxer- more of unif...

dont worry

CDs are not going anywhere unless another physical mode of delivery music is invented. Time flies but CDs and digital music have co-existed for close to 5 years and I cant foresee an event that will just wipe out a multi-billion dollar product in the blink of an eye. Sure the industry would rather b...

CDs

CDs are here to stay. They are cheap to manufacture so will always have there place- but of course they will almost exclusively be sold at online retailers, band web sites and at the shows. I could see the vinyl rebirth picking up steam. As consumers like myself go in their 40s at some point we may ...

They are

fighting out for my number one spot this year. Spoon will have a chance to defend their title with their release later this year. Its interesting the variety of bands the National are compared to Echo and the Bunnymen, Nick Cave, Tindersticks - they sound derivative but its hard to put your finger o...
