I've got Coverage, too... I don't know if I'm interested in much prior to that record, but I'll probably check out whatever comes next. Her version of "Drop the Pilot" is pretty damn solid. Did you look at the credits on that record, by the way? Evan Dando, Dan Wilson, etc. I like the circ...

In the podcast he did for Vagrant, Craig Finn (Hold Steady) talks extensively about the hardcore shows he used to go to as a kid and then states that the best live act he's ever seen is Soul Asylum. There's footage out there of "Someone to Shove" from an MTV performance that is pretty good...

Love "The Swish," but the jam on that record is "Most People Are DJs"...

That said, my present obsession is "Stuck Between Stations."

Flaming Lips - At War With the Mystics (Early 06) Wayne's been talking about next summer... However, in the meantime, they've released a new track on the Wedding Crashers soundtrack which is pretty quality and, more in the key of "awesome," have contributed a reading of "Bohemian Rhapsody" to an up...

Stuff worth considering:

"My Iron Lung" is pretty kickass. So is "The Bends."

"Coke Babies" is a nice little b-side worth some thought, too...

Did I see "No Surprises" anywhere on that list? 'Cause it should be.

What's the consensus on "Two States"? I haven't seen that one brought up... Or "Carrot Rope," for that matter...

Ooh! Ooh! "Painted Soldiers" needs to be in here somewhere!

Way back in the 80's I worked in a department store. Anyone remember Teddy Ruxpin, that creepy animatronic teddy bear that talked and read books to you? Well, he also sang songs as horrific as anything Barney would devise later on. http://www.bigredtoybox.com/articles/ruxpin.jpg Word is they're bri...

And seriously, why does that chick on the cover of This Is Hardcore look dead? I read a piece about this once in which they talked about how the designer used the "smart blur" tool in Photoshop to make the model look more like plastic. Interesting stuff. In other news: Campfirewood1980 = not dead!
