Dawg said: "On The Drive by Trucker's "Decoration Day", near the end after the last verse...there's a short pause in the music after Patterson stops his lyric...then the drums have a couple of beats and the dual guitars (a la Skynard) rush in." I couldn't agree with you more, but...

Desolation Boulevard is actually a compilation. Side One is all the Chin-Chapman Top 40 stuff and Side Two contains the Sweet's originals. I'm just amazed that no one has mentioned "Sweet FA" "In To Night" or "Solid Gold Brass." Those songs used to rock my world when I ...

Chief Joseph's Last Dream - Jason Ringenberg White Man - Queen Not many good songs about American Indians. Most of 'em are really lame. Used to work in country radio and had to play that god-awful "Indian Outlaw" by Tim McGraw. It is quite possibly the worst song ever recorded. No, I guess...

Take your pick on Townes Van Zant songs, but I'll have to put a plug in for "Tecumseh Valley." In the Townes documentary, a reporter asks him why all of his songs are so sad and Townes replies that not all of his songs are sad, some are downright hopeless. A couple from Mott the Hoople/Ian...

Regional Hits

I went to the Mucklewain Festival on 8/19 and got to see both Jason Ringenberg of Jason and the Scorchers and Kevn Kinney of Drivin & Cryin. Actually got to hang out with Jason for about an hour...autographs, pictures, the whole nine yards. Kevn now looks like Waylon Jennings. His voice cracked ...

Regional Hits

How 'bout "Fly Me Courageous" by Drivin' & Cryin' and "White Lies" by Jason & the Scorchers. Don't know that you could classify either one as "hits" but they got a lot of classic rock airplay in Tennessee. Anywhere else?

No one's mentioned Tom Waits yet? What about Westerberg? Lucinda Williams? Tweedy did write a book of poetry. Doesn't everyone have their copy of "Adult Head"? And I'm not sure which one was the poet, but the Refreshments should be remembered here for their songs "Banditos," "Mexico," and "Suckerpun...

Wow! Thanks for all the quick responses. My divorce mix is quickly becoming a boxed set! lol Thanks for all the kind words, too. Can't believe that I overlooked some obvious ones. "Dead Flowers" was a gimme that I completely missed. I also now have an excuse to purchase the Mountain Goats cd! Thanks...

Divorce Mix CD Any Suggestions?

Okay, I know how pathetic this is, but I'm going through a divorce and looking to make a mix cd to "celebrate" the occasion. It's a little bit harder than I thought it would be to come up with songs that actually fit the situation. I'll give you the basics: Two weeks after our 15th Anniversary, my w...
