I'm with you on the Gold argument, thinsafetypin. Minus a few dud tracks, it's a solid, honest album. And the production is fantastic. What's wrong with backup singers?

I find it hard to believe that 29 took months to write judging from its quality, or lack thereof. According to an interview with Ethan Johns, Ryan wrote, like, seven of the nine songs in the studio. That being said, you can't argue with the man. I do get the sense he'd planned for this discussion me...

What do y'all think of Furnace Room Lullabye? I like it's straight alt-country better than what I've heard on Blacklisted. Anyone happen to agree, or am I alone on this one?

Since I can't get into any of Cat Power's other work, I truly do not understand my love of The Greatest, but love there is. And that is one hot video. Thanks for posting.

That is very strange. Jake, when we got into our "critics" disagreement earlier in the day, I had briefly considered saying, in jest, "Jake, fuck you with a dirty stick." Then I feared the humor wouldn't come through.

More often than not, I find that artists who complain about critics tend to be excruciatingly mediocre artists. Ouch. Hey, I never said I didn't like certain critics. There are a few I read somewhat religiously and respect (love to GloNo). AND there is just as much artistry to good criticism as the...

There are a few critics I like, respect and read, and they can be mean bastards sometimes. I can let that go because they turn me on to so much great new music. That being said, I believe there are two types of people in this world: those that do and those that crticize. And while some of the critic...

Exactly.

Also, Tracks was a good idea for that reason. Shame it didn't last. Paste seems OK, though.

Gotta say my own piece, here. Russ, this situation points a much larger issue. I’m a songwriter, and if I dare say, when I’m on, I’m on. Doesn’t happen often, but when it does -- fuck it -- Lost Highway, call me, I won’t call you. (Tee hee hee) That being said, I almost completely stopped playing mu...

I picked up Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum (sp?) once again. I finally started making some headway in the book. Yay.

Also picked up David Eggers You Shall Know Your Velocity but haven't started it.
