Ha ha. Sorry, but no. My wife will be joining me that evening. Cohen is one of the few musicians/bands that we both agree is definitely worth paying for to see.

I was able to get two tickets to the second Chicago show (May 6). The first ones TM offered me were $250 a pop. I kindly turned them down. And then it appeared to be sold out. I left the site and tried to get back to work, but 10 minutes later, I logged back in and tried again. This time, two $75.50...

I agree with a lot of these. May I submit Madvillainy by Madvillain? I'm no longer as much of a hip-hop nut as I was during the early 90s. This album really got me back into it for a time, though. And it definitely gets more play than most of the albums I purchased the first half of the decade. With...

Re: Who Is Quintessential Rock Singer?

I disagree with Brownstein's friend's argument, that Jagger is a blues singer, not a rock n roll singer. That's ludicrous. You can say that about almost any "rock n roll" singer, accept perhaps those who sing in bands that fall under the twee-ish indie pop and more extreme industrial, hard...

You caught a bad show. I've seen him twice before, and both times I got almost two hours of a damn tight rock show. Definitely got my money's worth. Agree. I have read that his shows can be hit or miss, but I saw The Moz for the first time a couple of years ago. It was a fantastic show--much better...

BTW, a really good Elephant 6 album is Olivia Tremor Control's Music From the Unrealized Film Script: Dusk at Cubist Castle . Wonderful stuff. I can't speak towards Neutral Milk Hotel; I still have to hear Aeroplane . But OTC put out a great album that stands on its own as a great platter. Thanks f...

This could very well receive some of my hard-earned cash: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/149303-leonard-cohen-reveals-north-american-tour-dates Holy shit! Tickets I'm sure will be through-the-roof expensive, but I'm guessing it'll be the only time I can see him. I bet it will sell out in...

Like I said, I love a lot of music where the singer doesn't have a conventionally good voice. I used Stephen Malkmus as an example, but there are loads more. Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Tom Verlaine, etc, etc. And I did say that the lyrics were good. Very interesting. I wanted to like it, I just didn't war...

I'll start. I also admit to not rereading all 12 pages of this threat--just the first and last couple. Regarding Rollins, who really wasn't a sacred cow in the first place: I love early Black Flag. The pre-Rollins stuff is terrific but their best work, in my opinion, is Damaged. Certainly one of the...
