I think I mentioned it earlier in the year and I feel even more strongly about it....the National's cd is just great. Panda Bear's Person Pitch and the National cd seem head and shoulders above the other releases I've heard this year. However, I'm working up the energy to go the cd store again and g...

Smile

Hey. That Truncheon Thing has the Beach Boys' classic bootleg Smile posted. Thought I'd pass this along as I was excited to see it and even more excited to listen to it this afternoon...for the first time no less. I have the Brian Wilson version but I'm guessing I'm in for a totally different experi...

Tom,

I completely agree with you regarding live albums. A few exceptions granted, live albums tend to be let downs. In addition, right now it seems silly to purchase a live album (few exceptions granted) given the easy availability of great quality boots from all over the world.

I'm a huge REM fan and haven't bought the live album. I looked at the track listing and a large chunk of the CD was filled with songs from their last few albums. I can't see paying for material that is less than good for a second time (i bought the actual cd's). If they would have done something fro...

So out of curiosity, how much did everyone end up shelling out for the DL? I paid 4.5 British for it...I tried to guess what $10 would end up being b/c that's basically what I would pay for a regular downloaded album.

not sure why i'm posting on this because i really don't care. how many people really care one way or the other about the rock n roll? it's pretty irrelevant...just like Rolling Stone has become. i mean the entire idea of a 'hall of fame' for rock n roll seems contradictory to the spirit of rock n ro...

On Avery Island is great...not nearly as great as "areoplane" but love it nonetheless. I like The Hold Steady. DL'd the Gore Gore Girls but haven't gotten into it quite yet. Try Asobe Seksu's Citrus. Also of note...Os Mutanes and other Luka Bop stuff. Also, any of the classic americana &qu...

and for the artist and label, that volume allows for more exposure which could and would (in theory) engender repeat customers and a greater following assuming the album is of good quality artistically. for the artist specifically, the greater exposure could and should engender greater concert atten...

I think labels are mistakeningly thinking that people who download one of their albums would otherwise purchase that album via itunes, cd, or however. I don't think this is the case at all. the fact is...emusic allows a listener the ability to try this or that without hearing much about an artist. i...
