this is hilarious- "wait till you get to number 4, where God considers lust to be adultery!".

Also, 'have you ever used God's name as a "filthy, four-letter word"? I thought the word God had three letters?

It's probably because British people spend more money on mobile phone ringtones than they do on singles now. These are sad, sad times.

Re: shameless plug- free mix CD download at my website

The link didn't work and I'm afraid the address code didn't either. It could be me, though. I'm being rejected by everything and it's dog right now. Sorry, it was my lazy copy and pasting that meant it didn't work- I should proof-read more closely. It should now work, if not the homepage is http://...

shameless plug- free mix CD download at my website

I'm a big believer in the philosophy that if people are able to hear new music they will buy more records. When I relaunched my music/culture blog, I decided to put up a downloadable mix CD. It's available here for the next few days. It'd be cool to hear what you all thought of it.

I had the Maroon5 album forced upon me driving around with a friend and now I enjoy it quite a bit...

I quite like the Empire Records soundtrack too. Oh, and Christina.

And Hanson.

The Top 100 in the OMM isn't particularly great; I think if Observer readers had been included The Stone Roses would not have come out on top. Also, 100 is a very small sample. As for football I find the behaviour of English hooligans abroad utterly disgraceful. If Croatia had beaten England tonight...

Iron & Wine - Naked As We Came
Ryan Adams - Dear Chicago [the Demolition version has a lot of reverb, there's a rougher demo that is much more emotive]
Tom Waits - Martha [this one always gets me]
Bruce Springsteen - The Ghost of Tom Joad [song, not album]
Eels - Climbing to the Moon
