I do tell my friends "if you liked Ray, you will like it" and think there are many paralellisms: the "temptations of the road/crying baby at home*" theme, the timeframe/ setting, the editing style (we see an influential event happen, and then a song born from it), as well as "Oscar worthy" portraya...
