Michael Stipe is definitely as big a twat as Morrissey. If not bigger.

Twat--now there's a word I don't hear nearly enough.

Kudos to you, Jake!

Credit really goes to Kenan Hebert, who used the word to perfectly describe Morrissey in his article, 20 years of The Smiths, or, My Favorite Twat.

Someone poted that the Roses first album isnt holding up well.
For me thats the greatest debut ever BAR NONE. That album is just perfect, it has a kind of divine quality where you just know that Ian Brown understands, its hard to explain.

Anyhow here goes:

Bob Dylan- Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks
Stones- Sticky Fingers, Exile
Zep 2
Oasis- Definitely Maybe
The Clash-Lodon Calling & The Clash for Police and Thieves
Pistols- Bollocks
Roses- Debut
The Pogues- Rum, Sodomy and the Lash & If I SHould Fall from Grace with God
The Who- Who's Next?
THe Smiths-The Queen is Dead
Primal Scream- Screamadelica
The Street- Original Pirate Material
Dr. Dre- THe Chronic
Wu Tang Clan- 36 Chambers

Perfect Albums

Postby Erica C. » Sat Nov 29, 2003 7:14 pm

I'm sorry to disrupt the thread, but Rolling Stone just put out a list of top 500 greatest albums of all time.
Srgt. Pepper's came in at number 1.
Now I'm a really big Beatles fan, and I think that Srgt. Pepper's is all but perfection, but really. The number one album of all time? Besides, Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisted only came in at 4 and Blonde on Blonde at 9.
I think someone's going to be getting some hate mail....

Mmmmm, that's nice. I stopped giving a flying fuck about Rolling Stone as soon as I realized that they're just a slightly slicker form of Teen Beat and Bop! magazines; all drool and drivel, nothing nutritious (except occasionally by accident). Rolling Stone can never be trusted ever again to have their finger on anyone's pulse, unless one can pull a pulse whilst kissing major label ass.

Again, why bother? I mean, that's a redundant act, like sending hate mail to Al-Qaeda; either way, it isn't gonna be heard nor will it change their current modus operandi.

Totally agree. It's not even the Beatles' best album as far as I'm concerned. That would be the White Album.

2 other perfect (and live) albums :

The Who, Live at Leeds (the full, deluxe, or whatever the hell it's called Edition - the one with the full concert)
KISS, Alive - (or at least it was perfect to me until I found out they overdubbed stuff in the studio afterwards - regardless it still rocks)

Generally speaking, I steer clear of these discussions as they are fraught with personal feelings that can't be reconciled, but I'm surprised one name hasn't come up yet, particularly as it was Derek that introduced me to the album that has been a top-10 favorite for almost 10 years now...

The The: Mind Bomb

Just my $0.02.
