New CDs = Love or maybe just like?

I'm not poking around for the original thread, so here we go again.

I've got my groovy headphones on and diggin' Everything is Nice Matador's 10th anniversary 3-disc set I picked up in NYC in '03. It is absolutely one of the best I've heard.

Right now, disc one has just blown my puny mind with Non Phixion's "Refuse to Lose".

What's rocking your world these days?

I just discovered the Sadies - Favourite Colours. Me like!

I should like Sadies. On paper they're great. Their musicianship is doubtless. I just hate them live. The first time, I floated out they were so good. The second, third times were all the same show. And I've seen them back Neko too often. I even feel guilty I don't own anything. Ah well. When I'm flush...

...apparently my "flushness" won't last for long since my shopping list keeps getting longer day by day!

man, i'm bored and jonesin'....

Well, I've been blabbing on and on about Bang Sugar Bang, but it's still getting heavy rotation. And the new Trail Of Dead has been spinning a lot too.

What's that new Low like? People seem pretty mixed on it.

AM really curious about that one? Any good? What's it like?

Picked up Brendan Benson "Lapalco" and Anomoanon "Joli" today. Listening will commence after quittin' time!

Quite a bit, actually.

Then again, I'm not in any way a Low purist/collectionist/er; indeed, this is the first album that I've bought by them (seeing them live is what sold me on this one--I was completely unprepared for how fucking amazing they are live). I like a LOT of their back catalogue; I've just never bought anything by them besides this.

Even though it's quite different than their past cd's, if you already like Low, you will probably like the new cd. They trade in some of their "lullabyessence" (hey, I made that up) for some pretty assertive, dare I say abrasive, guitar work. A bit more like their live stuff. You know it was produced by Dave Fridman (Mercury Rev/Flaming Lips) so that's an indicator.

I don't know if there are tickets left, but you know they are at the Metro with Pedro tonight (hell yeah). If you haven't seen them, you won't be dissappointed. Of course, conditions have to be right. I hope the audience knows about the pre-requisite shutting up thing.

One time at a Sigur Ros show some drunk frat boys next to me kept yelling "it's yoooo-ooooou, it's yooo-oooou" through EVERY song. I mean, they really should put "no talking" signs up at some shows...
