I know it's not their best album (or at least not their most typical) but my fave is Earth, Sun, Moon - there are just a bunch of great songs on there. It's fun to play No New Tale to Tell on the guitar. I think it was followed by their bizarre "Bubblemen" period.

Also I recently re-discovered "Lift" (or parts of it anyway) and am hoping someone will re-release it stateside.

I'll second that.

Third that one. The guitar solo in "Call Mr. Lee" is amazing.
As for Lou Reed's "The Bells," I remember liking it a long time ago, but it's been years since I've heard it. The only song I can remember off of it is the dreadful "City Lights."
Iggy Pop's "New Values" was another good pick. I picked up the Buddha reissue a few years ago and want to add "The Soldier" to the collection too. Both are overlooked late 70's/early 80's efforts from him.

Damn, I should have thought of that one. Even Nick Cave himself said that was his least favorite album, and I never understood that. "Loom of the Land" is a frickin' amazing song.

The Arcade Fire Day Care Centre has NOTHING on this.

One of my all time faves. It induces both kinds of tears.

By far the best, it not Uncle Tupelo pt II like A.M. but still retains the rock that disappeared on later albums

I'm gonna have to throw in for REM's "New Adventures in HI-Fi". We may as well face the fact that it may be their last great album PERIOD.
