Sounds like basketball was the ticket out of the ghetto for you trash talkin'
badasses. No autopsy no foul in your hood.

the b-52's - funplex

i wasn't expecting this album to be as good as it is. it's actually really good. especially from a band who haven't done a great record in 16- 20 years (depending on your take on good stuff).

That Funplex video on Stereogm this morning was pretty uninspiring, but at least the crew's voices seem intact.

I'm loving She & Him "Volume One", it completely reminds me of "Rabbit Fur Coat", and the cover of "You Really Got a Hold On Me" is excellent. Moody and mellow, totally groovy.

Agreed on the MGMT - it's disgustingly good. I feel behind the curve, given how long it's been out.

you're right. that video seems to capture the best and worst parts of the band. i think it starts out fine and does a fine job of conveying the spirit behind the song, but it gets to be too much soon after. it's a nice song nonetheless.

Any idea who the gravely voiced guy with the Irish accent is on "Flanagans Ball?" It sounds familiar--might be an actor.

According to All Music, what you're hearing on "the clamorous romp of '(F)lannigan's Ball,'" are "guest vocals from the Pogues' Spider Stacy and the Dubliners' Ronnie Drew." I don't have that album yet.
