So, I have a hot date for the evening and we're heading to K-zoo for the D and Weezer. I was in charge of music selection:

Al Green - Call Me (ride back music)
The White Stripes - De Stijl
Built To Spill - Ancient Melodies From the Future
Ryan Adams - Gold
The John Spencer Blues Explosion - Now I Got Worry
DGC Rarites - Compilation
The Detroit Cobras - Mink, Rat or Rabbit
Liz Phair - whitechocolatespaceegg
the Dandy Warhols - Dandys Rule OK
and finally,
Rolling Stones - Beggar's Banquet

This isn't an official listing of what's been in heavy rotation in the week previous, but is carefully selected in order to make my humble appearance far more desireable to the lady riding there with me. Rock & roll as makeup, anyone?

Actually, I'm itching to go see a show in Chicago in January. I've been looking for a show to check out. Anyone know of anything in the pipeline?

As a matter of fact, I do. Go see the Blue Ribbon Brothers at the Beat Kitchen (2100 W. Belmont) on the last weekend of January. Not sure which day yet. I'll post as soon as I do.

Oh, sorry. I just get a little carried away when we have big shows like this Thursday, Dec. 20 at Martyr's and another on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Beat Kitchen. Go to http://www.blueribbonbrothers.com for more information.

Since this a long, on-going thread, it's been like 3 months since my last reply. I still find myself listening to a lot of Strokes, White Stripes and Gorillaz, but now I'm doing the re-discovery of older stuff thing:

Eels - Beautiful Freak
(Suddenly I can't stop listening to this! Time to get more Eels!)

Janes Addiction - Nothing's Shocking
REM - Reckoning
Devo - Freedom Of Choice/Are We Not Men?
Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand
The Cult - Love/Sonic Temple
His Name Is Alive - Livonia

And of course: Tenacious D

The Eels are delicious! Electro-shock Blues should be next on your "to get" list.

Ok, here's the newest snack pack of cds that I'm toting around:

B.R.M.C. - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
The Moldy Peaches (I can't get enough of "Downloading Porn with Davo")
Iggy & the Stooges - Raw Power
the Dirtbombs - Ultraglide in Black
Built to Spill - Ancient Melodies from the Future
Modest Mouse - Everywhere and His Nasty Parlor Tricks
Beachwood Sparks - Once We Were Trees
the Byrds - Turn, Turn, Turn

Has anyone heard of the Hives? Mojo claims they will lay the Strokes and the White Stripes to waste.
