I just picked up Source Tags & Codes, the new release by And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and it is simply amazing.

Can you give me a little comparison/description of what that band's all about? I'm intrigued by the name and I've heard good things but I still don't know what they're about.

Also, the new Lambchop is spectacular!

Califone: Sometimes Good Weather Follows Bad People (Reissue)
The Asteroid No.4: King Richard's Collectibles
Beulah: The Coast is Never Clear
Royal Tennenbaums Soundtrack (I'm a sucker...)
Pedal Steel Transmission: In the Winter, It Makes the Dead Grass Look Green
Timeless (Hank Williams Tribute)
Bright Eyes: Happiest Place on Earth single

Wow, that reviewer blows me away. I hope the cd can live up to his writing. Thanks for the link; it sold me on the cd!

I've been consumed by jazz lately, but I know GLONO ain't really about jazz so I'll simply say: Mingus is God.

I've been listening to 'Ah Um' and 'New Tijuana Moods' non-stop for a couple of weeks. That's just good stuff!

On the pop side, I've been listening to lots of Travis lately, but nothing really new.

BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! IT'S BACK!!!

Yes, kids, it's back... My digging up this thread is part of a two-pronged attack:

PRONG 1: Just to get a kick out of the stuff we were listening to about a year ago. Secondary goal of making you do a beer-noser is optional.

PRONG 2: To say that the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album is the fucking bomb, I'll tell you what.

And those are, well... the prongs. So what do you think?

well, since i missed this thread the first time around, i'll throw in for this time around--

currently in spin is an 80's redux that i custom-burned, which includes among other things "forever young" by Alphaville and "99 Luftballoons" by Nena in the original German (and none of the standard crap that you usually find on 80's nostalgia albums.)

i mix it up with Dead Can Dance's Toward the Within and Into the Labyrinth when i'm feeling meditative, and when i need to get a groove on i throw in dubnobasswithmyheadman by Underworld. very solid stuff.
