Noted. And before Pitchfork, for Christ's sake.

Now we're all regretting not putting him on the 100-song list. "Rawhide" (no, not the one the Blues Brothers and the DKs covered) shoulda been there.

Boo. Link Wray was great. The RnR Hall of Fame never ceases to disgust me. Idiots.

It's in Cleveland... what could disgust more?

On that note, I actually have a good friend from Cleveland who bears a striking resemblance to Link Wray.

I do list The Nomads cover of Wray's Fire and Brimstone on the Greatest cover songs thread... which I might also mention, finally knocked The Friggs, Bad Word for a Good Thing, out of the number one spot on my iPod's most played songs list.

I caught Mr. Wray back in college in Providence, RI. I remember that show quite well as it was the first time I had heard the opening band Dieselhed (who I now love to death), and then after they played a couple of the Dieselhed guys stayed on as Wray's backing band.

The show was painfully underattended if my memory serves me correctly, but Wray tore the roof off the place. I remember after one particularly great riff I nodded in approval and he gave me a look that said 'Fuck yeah I meant to do that!' Awesome night.
