Actual residents of the UK are probably better qualified to respond, but there's a couple different terms floating around here.

England, Scotland, and Wales are all separate nations located on the Island of Great Britain. If you're from the island of Great Britain, you're British, plus having a Scottish, Welsh or English nationality. The UK is the political entity comprised of the whole of Great Britain, plus Northern Ireland, and I guess some other islands like the Isle of Man, and functions as what we new worlders generally think of as a "country". Side note: If you're from the Isle of Man, you're Manx.

Okay, so how does Bangladesh play into this?

Well, the British (uh-oh, it's getting confusing!) Empire at one point had dominion over pretty much the entire Indian subcontinent. After Gandhi started non-violently mixing shit up and they left, India was its own country, but the Muslims weren't totally down with that, so they split off and formed Pakistan. Bangladesh split off at some later point.

I don't know any bands from Bangladesh, so I can't really say who the Bangladeshi version of Franz Ferndinand is, though. All I know is that their government complex is pretty cool-looking.

Maybe it's Warfaze? (even in Bangladesh, rock bands like to look tough by posing in front of brick walls)

Haha! Someone needs to tell them to start smoking and stop looking at the camera--they need to look off into the distance, as if they're watching aliens land or something. And slap that one fucker who's smiling ($20 says he plays keyboards).

That's all fine and well, but what I really want to know is......why the fuck are people from Manchester referred to as "Mancunians"? Common sense would tell you that they SHOULD be Manchesterites or Manchesterians or some such term. But Mancunians? I mean, bloody 'ell!!!

I'm drunk....

Post by WalterCracker »

That's why I love this site.....I get to learn about lots of great music from people who are educated enough to admit that they don't fully understand what they're talking about (in terms of politics this side of the pond - which I also don't fully understand).

The reason I like taking the mick out of the scots and the welsh is that they have their *complete* countries, we don't.

I absolutely hate everything about the north. I hate the idea of killing anyone. And when they bring religion into it.......fuck off.

I think you "yanks" (don't why I used the inverted commas there) have it pretty good. You managed to get your civil war out of the way nice and early. Pretty clean as well.

Either way I'd love to have David Healy playing up front with Robbie Keane. Google away on that one ;-)

Again I'd like to apologise for leaving a drunken message. But fuck it, that's what Arthur's for.

Okay, good, cause seriously, I was thinkin' ...what the fuck is this guy talkin' about...? But beer, or whatever you're drinkin, makes everything okay. I'm enjoying some pints of Dutch lager right now. Super cheap at Trader Joe's (also Trader Vic's). ANyone outside of CA have the Trader Joe's grocery stores? badass. they also have these grolsch mini-kigs. totally badass.

Supposedly we're about to get one here in NYC, we were just talking about it. I think I bought some camping supplies (jerky) at one outside of San Fran. What's the deal with that store again?

Trader Vic's? What happened to the Mai Tai, man?

It was supposed to be all about the Mai Tai...
