iTunes pays $7 for a ful-album download. A label clearing $7.00 for a cd sale is pretty good, really. Labels typically sell their stuff to distributors for approximately 50% of the list price. For example a $15.98 list CD might be purchased by the distributor for $8. So it's not really that far off.

Additionally, iTunes pays .70 on a single song. That's an awesome rate. Nothing's very good for artists on a major label, but indie artists can clean up on iTunes. Look at us!

The artwork, the lyrics, the sequencing of the album typically tell a very important story. It is a work of art!

Funny, I don't recall anything ever getting put out by Victory Records being a "work of art." A work of obnoxious mall-emo drivel, now that's a little closer to the mark...

i thought this was pretty funny: victory hates the iTunes store so much, yet uses it to distribute their podcast. (a podcast full of SINGLES from label bands.) hypocrites.[/url]

Update: Steve Jobs and Tony Brummel talk about iTunes: Leaked emails reveal that Tony Brummel has approached Apple in the hopes of working out an arrangement between Victory Records and Apple's popular iTunes service.
