morrissey - ringleader of the tormentors

Postby grounded5am » Sun Mar 26, 2006 1:19 am

just heard morrissey's ringleader of the tormentors and it's his best so far. quite possibly the best cd of the year. his sound has really changed. much more musuclar and the guitar plays a bigger role than ever before. there are some rippin' guitar solos. here's his myspace page (man, everyone's doing the myspace) where the whole thing is available to listen to.

Morrisey doesn't seem like the type to have a Myspace. Anyway, I'm only on 'You Have Killed Me,' but so far teh album's sounding good.

EDIT: I've listened to the whole thing, and in rehards to quality, it's pretty mush the same throughout, it's overall a very good album, better than his last album, but by no means his best effort.

Seriously? What with the melodrama, vanity and the self-absorbed and morose poetry I figure he's a perfect myspacer (I mean "I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero"? Who the hell is he kidding?)

On first listen the album is pretty good. Definitely not his best, but I can understand not being able to top "Everyday is Like Sunday" or Your Arsenal. "Dear God, Please Help Me" was really good. I'm just glad to see he's not trying to hide the fact that he's aging, and thus aging gracefully. I mean, look those gray hairs!

And there is some really good guitar work on there. Moz always did manage to pick good session musicians.

i was never amazed by your arsenal. in fact i have never really been blown away by any morrissey cd. although i did like kill uncle. the new though really seems to showcase morrissey at his best for me. he's been on a good run starting with his last record released (the live one) and now this. good stuff indeed. and yeah, i could totally see morrissey being on myspace and doing the whole myspace thing. with drama and all. it'd be hilarious if morrissey left you a message on your myspace profile (if you had one).

the thing with morrissey records is, no matter if they're good, they all turn out bleak compared to what he wrote in the smiths, so maybe one simply shouldn't have too high expectations. overall i think ringleaders is a fairly good record. mostly just decent songs and an odd definite high(life's a pigsty) and low (the father who must be killed)

And now: Morrissey Boycotts Canada:

"We will not include any Canadian dates on our world tour to promote our new album. This is in protest against the barbaric slaughter of over 325,000 baby seals which is now underway.

I fully realise that the absence of any Morrissey concerts in Canada is unlikely to bring the Canadian economy to its knees, but it is our small protest against this horrific slaughter - which is the largest slaughter of marine animal species found anywhere on the planet.

The Canadian Prime Minister says the so-called "cull" is economically and environmentally justified, but this is untrue.

The seal population has looked after itself for thousand of years without human intervention, and, as the world knows, this slaughter is about one thing only: making money. The Canadian government will stream all of the pelts into the fashion industry and this is the reason why the baby seals are killed with spiked clubs that crush their skulls - any damage to their pelts is avoided. The Canadian Prime Minister also states that the slaughter is necessary because it provides jobs for local communities, but this is an ignorant reason for allowing such barbaric and cruel slaughter of beings that are denied life simply because somebody somewhere might want to wear their skin.

Construction of German gas chambers also provided work for someone - this is not a moral or sound reason for allowing suffering.
If you can, please boycott Canadian goods. It WILL make a difference. As things stand, Canada has placed itself alongside China as the cruelest and most self-serving nation."

Not to be too much of a hippy, but I mean, how can anybody kill these little guys?

Personally, I only support the killing of ugly yet delicious animals, like chickens and cows and pigs.

Meanwhile, back in Canadia, Activists arrested during Canada seal hunt (disturbing image warning).
