Local Nashville indie-rock band, Avenues. Sadly defunct, and right after releasing a really great self-produced EP.

Great thread idea, and I really like this quite a bit. As far as instrumental post-rock goes, I'd say this is an improvement over the last two Mogwai albums, which were disppointing.

I like CYNE, as well.

Ceremony, half of the now-defunct Skywave:

It's like J&MC meets Disintegration-era Cure, with absurd amounts of feedback.

And since bss gets two, so do I:

I like it. Along these lines, I'd also strongly recommend Seattle's Blue Scholars

Just a quick train of thought comment about talented people, particluarly finger-picking guitarists: man, can they sound like pretentious twats when they speak! "Oh, yeah, I'm so great. I'm doing you a favour by appearing on your show. Yeah, I play eight instruments and am involved with with ten outfits. My next ten-minute piece is about my navel and its obscure lint." FUCK! And to further bug the crap outta me, they're good. Exceptional, even. Just play. Shut your gob and play. Dweeb.

Point of clarification, the above rant has NOTHING to do with Kitchen Cynics, who were lovely, oozed charm., reminded me of The Frames and Reindeer Division, and who I'd totally see if I have time and money and time....

Ok, this overtime crap is getting to me...

Christ, where are the manners of the men on this board? Somebody get the Nivea lotion out and rub Carol's feet.

all right. i realize i am a bit of wanker for writing a plug for a band in which my sibling is a member but then again i rarely use myspace to find music, so i actually might be able to say truthfully that they are the best band that i know. i am quite certain they probably are not the best band on myspace, but that being said they do write rather catchy tunes. well, here it is- http://www.myspace.com/ultrasonicedukators
ps. no need to hold back any criticism , i would actually like to hear a non-biased and refined opinion. and i have told my brother that the name really has to go
