ChrisG, I think you misunderstood me: I mean Library Anonymous like Alocholics Anonymous. Bad joke, I'm afraid.

As for the ISBNs, I saw the cross ref with Amazon.com and the Library of Congress, the latter being the issuer of ISBNs for American publishers. Drawing from Amazon.com yet not finding certain ISBNs confounds me; I've used that database many times and found exactly the book and the cover; indeed, the US-based Amazon seems more robust than its Canadian version, which makes NO sense at all (peanut gallery, please restrain yourselves).

As I said, I'll dig about a bit...perhaps I'll use some books from work...

Oh, I get it. I'm slow.

I thought the Library of Congress issued Library of Congress Card numbers?

Sorry, I got confused. The Library of Congress doesn't issue the ISBN, I believe it merely houses the books which have the number. According to my well-marked Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition, the ISBN is generated by the ISO and is assigned by the R.R. Bowker Company. I got it confused with Canada where the Library of Canada assigns the numbers.

The inability of finding my books by ISBN remains, however.

Ok, finally got my library updated. It's actually kind of weird to see how many people I'm finding who's collections match mine. Though it's really sad to see how many people actually own The Da Vinci Code.

And Miss C, the ISBN's seem to be working for me. I was having a hard time with the Library of Congress codes, actually. It did say "beta."

Wow. I just spent an hour signing up and listing books, looking at other people's collections and reviews. Great site! I can see that place soaking up huge chunks of my time.

I just realized, when I started this thread, I didn't include a link to my library.
