Get out of my office!

Ted Leo has a ton of 'em- "Little Dawn" is a good one.

Also:
-The Beatles- "Here Comes the Sun"
-The Smiths- "Sheila Take a Bow" (when the Smiths wrote a "happy" song, it needs to be brought to people's attention.)
-And for the same reason, Morrissey- "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday"
-The Flaming Lips- "Do You Realize?", because the line "Do you realize the sun doesn't go down/ It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning 'round" is one of the best and most uplifting song lyrics ever.
-Oingo Boingo- "Gratitude"

Ha, ha!

But I bet it didn't snow in Virginia last week. Yup, I'm really gonna need this list come November when Toronto begins its bleak season.

Sorry. Bad day all over.

Even the saddest Smiths songs usually have at least one hilarious line in them. And they all make me smile. Throw your homework onto the fire!

Almost all of Beck's 'Midnight Vultures' makes me happy. Same with The Aquabat's 'Charge!'. Tripping Daisy's cover of the 'Sigmund & The Sea Monsters' theme gets an honorable mention.

Grandaddy's 'Nature Anthem' is my no. 1 smile-maker, though. Especially the video.

I love that video. I think that came as an extra to Sumday, didn't it?

I'm not sure - I just have the single. Grandaddy is one of those bands with songs that I tend to either love or hate. How's the whole album?

But even without the video, the song just always makes me feel happy. How can you not love it?

I wanna walk up the side of the mountain
I wanna walk down the other side of the mountain
I wanna swim in the river and lie in the sun
I wanna try to be nice to everyone

Repeat

Hmm, happy songs...

On the Saturday Morning Cartoons compilation album, you get at least two:
Liz Phair with Material Ish - The Banana Splits Song (Tra-La-La)
Wax - Happy Happy Joy Joy

You can't help smiling when you hear the dulcet tones of:
Wesley Willis Fiasco - Girls On Film

And of course, the following cuts are sure to bring a smile to your face:
Jellyfish - Sebrina, Paste, & Plato
TMBG - Purple Toupee
Mojo Nixon - I'm Livin' With A Three-Foot Antichrist
Rufus Thomas - Walking The Dog
Wilco - Outta Mind (Outtasite)
Material Ish - Going Through Your Purse
Big Star - In The Street
Matthew Sweet - We're The Same (this song is just bathed in sunshine)

Wow, I'd better end there... people are gonna start thinking I love power pop music or something... ;)
