Do what Mick says. Minor Threat is just about the easiest "seminal" band to get into, ever. One CD and you're done.

is there a newer, more recent remastered set out there? i'm hesitant in buying that for fear of bad sound.

If you don't want bad sound, don't bother getting into Minor Thread. The whole thing sounds like it was recorded on a tascam 4-track cassette in somebody's basement. That's just part of their sound.

Personally, I think Ian MacKaye has done much better work in his life than Minor Threat. Check out Fugazi. He also did an album with Paul Barker and Al Jourgensen called Pailhead, which I highly recommend.

What Chris said: The thing barks at you on vinyl, cassette, or cd. I think most of the Dischord stuff featuring MacKaye on it has already been remastered at Silver Sonya.
Complete Discography is just that, is all you need, and bargain priced.
It's blowing my mind, G5A, that you started this thread.
