Shouldn't someone be talking about the fact that Sonic Youth is playing Daydream Nation as their set at Pitchfork this year? Or is that not a good idea, since Pitchfork is like, a rival, i guess, for the affection of music nerds everywhere?

I just think Sonic Youth is wildly overrated, is all.

I imagine you haven't heard Daydream Nation? That shit's good. Forgot all their other releases (well, don't), but Daydream Nation is their most accessible and quintessential and triumphant release. Listen and you'll like it.

On another note, I finally got Low End Theory last night. My jaw just about dropped. That shit's amazing, even after being a big fan of Midnight Marauders. Other discs I picked up: a new copy of Highway 61 Revisited, The Clash S/T, The Harder They Come soundtrack, and My Morning Jacket It Still Moves. Quite a haul.

I demand D. Phillips be fired!!!

Sonic Youth...some great stuff, a lot of so-so. But they're definitely worthwhile.

I saw them live twice and couldn't hear a damn thing besides a general roar.

seeing as i'm jubilant whenever they decide to play just a song or two from ddn at a concert, i would absolutely love to be at one of those shows. will have to take comfort in the ddn-deluxe edition coming out soon
