Best Year in Music?

Postby Donaldson » Mon Aug 11, 2008 3:21 pm

According to current results, an online NPR Poll says that the best year for music was 1991. That's right, the year Brooks and Dunn, Stabbing Westward, and the Dave Mattews Band formed.

Anyone want to rig the poll so that '78 comes out on top? What was the best year for music?

I'm not going to go all out and pronounce it "best", but 1997 was pretty damn good for me.

I wonder how many people answer that question with a year that is within two years of the year they graduated from high school. I bet a lot.

2009. Call it a hunch, but all you haters are going to owe me an apology next year.

Just off the top of my head I'm going to say 1994.

What? Oh, yeah! Yeah. For sure. Definitely. Coming out.... next year. Yep. No reason it shouldn't, right? I mean, lots of band take time between recording, so let's see... uhm... [leafing through files], okay, according to this our last album was.... huh! It was "Taro Sound". I like that one! And that came out in.... oh my. That can't be right. [reading further] Well, I'm sure these figures aren't Completely accurate, because this says "Winter of '04". That's what... [using calculator].... four years ago! That must be a mistake. I'm sure we've had other albums since then... hold on, reading further.... no.... no... yes! Wait - no..... Hmm.

Hmm. Well, we Do pretty much have a DVD ready, and about 3/4ths of a new album done, so.... [using calculator again.... carrying the 2.... ordering take-out]... uhm, by my calculations you should have the DVD on January 1st, 2009, the new album on the 2nd, and the box set on the 4th (it takes an extra day for the paint to dry because it's a box set). Oh, and we're having a public beheading on the 8th of March. So yes, to answer your question, 2009 looks like a pretty big year for Quasar Wut-Wut.

Now is this in any way going to interfere with Riviera's "Hell Went and Shat an Icicle" Reunion Tour? Because we could probably delay some of these things for another couple years if you need us to.

1977 and 2002 were both pretty hot.
