He's one of those dudes I've always MEANT to read, and always suspected, based on the reviews, that I'd like him quite a bit. I certainly like the idea of him. And the fact that he died of his own hand, like so many of my heroes (Spalding Gray, Hunter S. Thompson, John Kennedy Toole, et al, please stand up!), makes me think that I'd probably dig his work. Infinite Jest is on my Amazon wishlist, but I've never gone ahead and picked it up. Maybe I will now. Anyone actually read him care to chime in on his passing?

I was depressed to read about it. I loved his essays...if you have to start with one, find the one where he went to the adult entertainment awards. Or maybe the cruise ship one. Hmmm...can't decide.
