I'll still play these pretty much in their entirety:

Girls Can Tell by Spoon
Mass Romantic by The New Pornographers
White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Isolation Drills by Guided By Voices
Songs For The Deaf by Queens Of The Stone Age
Hail to the Thief by Radiohead

Lot of other decent stuff but I'll usually only listen to one or two songs from it.

For me, I don't think this holds up quite as well as I thought it would. There are a couple of absolutely perfect songs, for sure, and a handful of really good ones, but there's also a bunch of tracks that are just alright.

I agree, but it was still a damn good album.

That's also why I didn't include a White Stripes album on my list-I don't think they've ever put out a single album that was brilliant from start to finish. Even White Blood Cells has some awful tracks on it.

I'm going to take Elephant over White Blood Cells (skipping past "In the Cold Cold Night" when I do so)

Others (not already listed):

Old 97's Satellite Rides
Aimee Mann Bachelor No. 2
Drive By Truckers The Dirty South
Ryan Adams Heartbreaker (Amazon says it came out in 2000)

The Fork released a list in early 2005 that shows a lot of obvious influence of (their own) hype. A few years of hindsight shuld help weed out some of the "next big thing" albums.
