Most of the posts in this thread are not about the new album. After listening to it for a week or so I'm fine with that, but am hoping I might come around to liking the album more at some point.

Perhaps that should tell you something.

I think the world revolves around YHF. So I never think any album they make could ever be as good. I like this one ok; I'm still breaking it in. I never got around to picking up Sky Blue Sky, but I liked "Impossible Germany".

Well, hot damn. Got my new old turntable hooked up last night and spent the evening enjoying it tremendously. First up was the album that inspired the whole thing (and, a long time ago in a galazy far, far away, this thread), Wilco (The Album) - I have to listen to it more, but already it's easily my favorite since YHF, and of course, I prefer the relatively upbeat A side to the beautiful but more chill B side.

Then I listened to most of the Dandys' 13 Tales for its sonic breadth and some select tracks on The Mountain Goats' Tallahassee. In a nod to DP's college days, I also picked up a very good looking copy of the Quadrophenia soundtrack, but didn't have a chance to play it last night.

Anyway, thanks a million, Sab - I'm really bummed we didn't even get to say hi (I was in an emergency meeting helping explain why a client's sites were down for over an hour yesterday morning), but am loving the deck so far.
