TwangOff Battle of the Bands in Chicago

Post by Jake »

TwangOff Records and Pilsner Urquell present
TWANGOFF - THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS

THURSDAY, JULY 15TH at The LYON'S DEN, 1934 W. Irving Park Rd in beautiful Chicago. 9PM

Featuring Bucky Halker and The Complete Unknowns vs. Seven Harkey & the Graves vs. Outlaw Family Band. It could prove to be one of the mightiest contests ever!

Say Goodbye to The Lyon's Den!

It's sad to say, but The Lyon's Den will soon close it's doors. Joe Tozer and the staff at the club have been great supporters of the local music scene for quite a long time and will be sorely missed. Hot diggity! That makes the upcoming July 15th TwangOff the last edition of the battle of the bands show at the club. Whew. It's not a show to be missed. Firm competition featuring Bucky Halker and The Complete Unknowns vs. Seven Harkey & the Graves vs. Outlaw Family Band. Come out and say goodbye to the club. Experience the competition and excite of TwangOff.

Now, there's a random drawing at the start of the show to determine the order the bands perform. If Outlaw Family Band were to draw the last performance slot of the evening, they'll be the first band to ever play at TwangOff - they played the first slot, first show back in September 2002 - but, they'd also be the last. Excitement abounds!

Bucky Halker & The Complete Unknowns - A tall man with a big voice and big songs delivered with truth, character, and conviction. Bucky was recently featured, along with Janet Bean, Ed Burch, Chris Walz, & Don Stiernberg on WLUW's 6th annual tribute to Woody Guthrie. "With a doctorate in history and a zeal for documenting the Illinois labor movement, Halker is just as much educator and musicologist", says Chicago Tribune. On this outing he's backed by The Complete Unknowns. This is sure to be a great performance.

Seven Harkey & the Graves - They've been called "Pink Floyd & the Heartbreakers". Rough around the edges, but infectiously catchy, Seven's songs tell the tale of infatuation, death and other earthly delights. They explore the darker side of life, finding the cloud inside the silver lining, and the flashlight at the end of the tunnel.

Outlaw Family Band - Back in September 2002 when the TwangOff empire was launched, OFB drew the first performance slot at the first show. Face For Radio won that first contest, but the OFB boys have come a long way since then. They've been working hard in the studio, have taken it out on the road and are ready to show the TwangOff crowd what they've been working on.

Love the show? Take it home with you!
TwangOff now offers live cds of the each bands performance almost immediately following the show. You can take it home with you and cherish the memories. The cd's are also available at TwangOff Records website at http://www.twangoffrecords.com.
