Oh yeah. And "Santa Claus" by the Sonics (or Twister, your choice).

Good God, what about "What is Christmas?" by the Sleestacks, that depressing and genius "Christmas 'Round my TV" by the Port Wine Lads, "Santa Must Die" by KIng Tammy or the Sinatra's "Silent Night?" The Leppotone Christmas Album is my favorite.

What about "There Ain't No Sanity Clause" (how clever) by the Damned. It was recorded in 1980--when they were still good and punk. And let's not forget "Zat You, Santa Clause?" by the king of schmaltz, Buster Poindexter!

Also, Mark Mothersbaugh released a great X-Mas cd last year on Rhino--Joyeux Mutato. Has anyone heard it? Really interesting and (very enjoyable) stuff.

I forgot about "Zat You, Santa Clause?" The memory of David Jo mugging in that tux and Santa hat is making me a little dizzy. It's a long walk from Jet Boy.

Yeah, I totally forgot about 'Zat You'! Also 'Fairytale Of New York' - excellent song.

Also, Joan Jett's cover of 'Little Drummer Boy', as well as David Bowie/Bing Crosby's stupendous cover of the same song! Man, I love Xmas!

Ooh, also The Pretenders '2000 Miles'!

But where's MY Lepatone Christmas cd?

How about the Low Christmas album, strikingly beautiful. Even as a huge Dandy Warhols fan, their version of the Little Drummer Boy blows it out of the water. It gives me chills during every listen.

You've got to include Elvis' Santa Claus is Back in Town. No sleigh with reindeer, no sack upon his back, Elvis' Santa is coming in a big black caddilac!

One last note: The best all-around Xmas cd is now officially Dean Martin's 'Making Spirits Bright', complete with an alternate version of 'Let It Snow!'. It's kooky, upbeat fun with Deano at his laid-back best. Lissen to it!

If this disc doesn't fill you with cheer, you're the fucking Grinch...
