Has there been a lot of debate? I thought it was just those of us with taste who like Roxy Music, and then those "other people." |

That's funny. Yeah, Vienna is definitely a Midge Ure fiasco. The best of the sappy Ultravox, but not great and certainly not glam.
You know, another Alice Cooper lp to look for would be "Love It to Death." It's worth it for "Ballad of Dwight Fry" alone. If you have a record player, you can find a used copy of this album pretty much anywhere for $2 or $3.
I also thought of another band--Sparks. They never had the glam look, but their first four albums (Sparks, A Woofer in Tweeter's Clothing, Kimono My House, and Propaganda) all have that sound. It's pretty great stuff. |

Just a follow-up on this thread that I've taken some pointers into consideration (Sweet and Mott The Hoople have been added to the collection).
And speaking of Mott The Hoople, I picked up their "Brain Capers" a few weeks back (import version) and the thing is fucking incredible!! How I overlooked this thing is beyond me, but it's one of those great rock albums that is worth praising to anyone who will listen. I only knew them as the band that received notority from a Bowie tune, but this album shows Bowie practically owed them this song as his phrasing (at that time) was a total lift of what Ian Hunter was doing. A five-star album that sits right beside acknowledged classics like "Ziggy," "Slider" and "Killers" in the whole glam blueprint.
And I wouldn't have discovered it without the minds of you GloNo faithful! |

All The Way From Memphis... yeah, Mott the Hoople knew how to rock.
I'd really like to see a movie made about Marc Bolan. Johnny Depp would have probably been good casting, but he may be too old now(?).

What's this BUMP shit? Too high and mighty for the RTT?
Lemme tell ya somethin 'bout the RTT. When I started that thread I had no idea it would take off like a wildfire out of control til there was nothin' left to burn and nothin' left to prove. My dream is that one day the RTT will have more posts than the worst thread of all time---
"WHAT ARE YOU READING". So go ahead and bump that up if makes you feel superior to the rest of us. But you can learn more about your fellow man from reading the RTT than you can from reading all the stupid books in the entire universe. |

I have to admiut, I don't know WTF you guys are on about with this RTT biz.
However, the T. Rex fans will need to check out the album "Beginning of Doves", if only for the tracks "Hippy GUmbo" and "Hot Rod Mamma". Also, see if you can dig up "Acoustic Warrior". SOme best of comps will probably net you the best rtracks from the earlier fanciful albums, like "Jewel" "Mustang Ford" "The Groover" "Deborah" and "She was born to be my Unicorn".
All this talk has gotten me psyched to transfer a little more T. Rex to the Touch. Thanks. |
