By Jove, she is freckly Murph! I'd say there's Sligo blood in there somewhere although might have been a feckless Leitrim rogue who stepped over the border and planted his fecund seed oblivious to the wheels of destiny he had set in motion.

Never knew too much about LL until my inability to sleep on a trip to NYC resulted in my having no option but to watch "Herbie Rides Again" or whatever that piece of neo-nostalgia crap was called. Turned me right off her although i've developed a strange Beetle fetish to go with my Beatles fetish.

Scary.

While we're on the topic, did anyone pick up DirtyStick's latest, 29?

After the surprisingly mostly excellent Jacksonville City Nights, I was hoping for another winner. I was let down, though -- i think 29 is one of the most miserable, meandering, messes he's put out yet.

Yeah, I was totally let down by 29 and I'm an unabashed Adams fan.

The song Nighbirds, though, is absolutely brilliant. Got to be one of my two or three favorite songs of the year. I had heard it in concert over the summer and was mesmerized. So had high hopes that the rest of the album would be like THAT. But it wasn't. Damn.

Yeah, though the album has a few nice moments, doesn't hold together. Rambling and dull. Total let down. Even on repeated listens. Like RocknRoll, I think it will be one that I won't be coming back to.

If you'll excuse me, time to listen to Jacksonville again.

Ohhh September...
