a purchase like that would have to include a turntable.

but then if you played the vinyl you'd have to buy a second box set that you kept unopened to as not to spoil it.

and then you'd be Jake, circa 1990.

The Who just released a massive Quadrophenia set with a bunch of demos I don't have and other shit. God I want that, but who has that much to spend?

Hey, here's something worthwhile and affordable: Talking Heads: Chronology Deluxe DVD

Image

Chronology pulls together live performances from across Talking Heads' career. It starts with their earliest days at CBGB and The Kitchen in New York City in the mid-seventies, through their breakthrough years in the late seventies and on to global success in the eighties.

Only 20 bucks!

Shit, this is turning into a 'Xmas gift ideas for music lovers' thread.

the CD format is 30 years old. sound quality is better, for instance, on Blueray. I think any uber expensive kit like this should include a digital download. For instance, the new Pumpkins reissues are available as deluxe downloads in lossless and hi fidelity digital formats (likd FLAC).
