New stuff I loved:
Fucked Up, David Comes to Life. This is a lot of fun.
PJ Harvey, Let England Shake. Honestly, when I read the lyrical way she writes and hear the passionate way she sings, I want to bang her. Is that awful?

Old stuff I loved:
A lot of Nick Cave.
A lot of Mountain Goats (thanks Glono!).

New stuff I'm less sure of:
Wilco, The Whole Love. I liked this a lot initially, but it didn't stick with me. Still, an improvement.
St. Vincent, Strange Mercy. Meh. Poser.

This was pretty productive year, for once. New stuff I really got into this year:

Beach House Teen Dream- ah, that voice *knees quiver*
Cold Cave Cherish The Light Years- "I don't mean to sound like a queer or nothing, but Depeche Mode's a pretty sweet band."
Twin Shadow- Forget
The Joy Formidable- The Big Roar
M83- Hurry Up We're Dreaming
The Decemberists The King is Dead
Wild Flag

Other stuff:
Booker T & The MG's- McElmore Avenue- I feel like revoking my own music cred after going so long without knowing this existed. How could you all let this happen?
Rediscovering my love for Yo La Tengo's I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One, Helium's The Dirt of Luck, and The Delgados' Hate. All albums I lost over the years and have since replaced.
Getting off my lazy ass for once and seeing Wye Oak, Archers of Loaf, and The Rosebuds in the same month. Being happy when The Rosebuds can sell out a show on the other side of the country. Not being happy when that means a big sweaty guy is crammed in front of me the entire time.

All in all, a pretty good year.

Hey, nice to see that this place is gasping back to life a little bit. And congrats to Riviera on the new release!

I'm not plugged into the last.fm dealie, but I did run down my favourite ten records (and some honourable mentions) at my blog:

Sorry for the shameless plug :-) In the absence of regular updates at GloNo, I decided to exercise my inner music nerd at my own place. To save you some suspense, let's just say that I really liked the new Wilco record.
