Daptone and Rod Stewart

Postby Lep » Tue Feb 17, 2009 5:29 pm

The bad news is they were burgled.

The good news (probably?) is that Rod Stewart is scheduled to record with them...
(That was aside in the robbery announcement.)

Is a good Rod Stewart record possible after nearly 40 years of dreck - even with the Daptone crew.

I tend to doubt it myself, but I hope so.

Wow, that sucks about their gear.

But wow about Rod Stewart. Between this and the Faces rumors...there could be some interesting stuff coming up for Rod the Mod. I'm intrigued.

Cool.

Why don't we do Rod a favor. What songs should he do with if he does an album with the Dap Kings?

Suggest at least one song from this millennium to match each of your suggestions from the last:

Here are two:

"Next Time" - Johnnie Taylor
"Let It Die" - Feist

Old: "Southern Nights" (Allen Toussaint)
New: "Ignition (remix)" (R. Kelly)

Nice! - but if Toussaint maybe something grittier, "Ruler of My Heart" (Irma Thomas) or "On Your Way Down" (Lee Dorsey).

I'm a pop fan, but I'm sure the grit is what Rod needs to redeem the previous 30 years.

re other conversations on the recently re-active board, I don't care if Jake and I should probably have just done this on IM, ha ha, but I would like to hear DP weigh in

Nice. I'd like to hear him work with Jack White. In fact, I want Rod Stewart to be the new White Stripes vocalist. That would be badass.
