UK Subs Live in Newcastle

UK Subs at Trillians
Newcastle, England, July 23, 2009

Before the show, I was speaking to someone in the audience who had seen this band at the Nokia Theatre in New York with a crowd 3,000 of young and old punk rockers. Tonight there were about 200 punks, the majority old enough to remember the spirit of London 1977. A strange anomaly that the UK Subs are now probably bigger in the USA than the UK.

Back in the day I got the shit kicked out of me by a gang of skinheads from the Sham Army that looked similar to many of the people in tonight's audience. Normally, I would cross the road to avoid them, so I tried to get close enough to get some decent shots but not too close.

The band were on good form and gave a high-energy 60-minute set which thankfully left the crowd happy.
