Peter Doherty at Barnsley Walkabout

South Yorkshire, England, June 17, 2010

Recently Peter Doherty has been playing towns that are not on the traditional UK circuit. Places such as Darlington, Wigan, and on this night at the Walkabout Australian theme pub in Barnsley…have guitar will travel.

Peter took the stage at midnight and delivered a seventy-minute set, playing from the heart and without a setlist. Mik Whitnall from Babyshambles occasionally assisted on guitar and two ballerinas featured.

The set was a mixture of Libertines, Babyshambles and solo material, starting with “What A Waster” and ending with a cover “Twist And Shout.” The crowd loved it and sang along for the whole set. Peter kept his banter to a minimum and barely took breath between songs.

I don’t know why Peter is playing these dates but everyone was having fun. That, to me, is a good enough reason.
