Barry Manilow is in a mellow mood...

July 11, 2007

What a headline! Manilow Goes Mellow For '70s Covers Album. Has the Man ever gone anything other than mellow?

The best part is that this latest Clive Davis-assisted effort, called The Greatest Songs of the Seventies, contains "eight vintage Manilow tracks." Ha! Of course, one-third of the best songs of that decade were originally performed by Barry Manilow.

Check the track listing after the jump, and let us know what 70s songs you think Barry should include...

"It Never Rains in Southern California"
"My Eyes Adored You"
"You've Got a Friend" (duet with Melissa Manchester)
"The Long and Winding Road"
"How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?"
"Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word,"
"(They Long To Be) Close to You"
"Don't Go Breaking My Heart" (duet with Rosie O'Donnell)
"Bridge Over Troubled Water"
"Sailing"
"He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother"
"Could It Be Magic?"

Acoustic songs:
"Mandy"
"Looks Like We Made It"
"Even Now"
"Weekend in New England"
"Somewhere in the Night"
"Can't Smile Without You"
"Copacabana"
"This One's for You"
"I Write the Songs"

I can't wait for his Greatest Songs of the Eighties, which obviously will be coming next... What'll be on that?

Even though this will do gangbusters business with the dentists and over-60 housewives' demographics, it's just another manifestation that Clive Davis is bereft of creativity, and needs to retire. SOON!

Wait a minute! A duet with Rosie O'Donnell? If this isn't the most major dis of Kiki Dee since Elton re-recorded the song with RuPaul, I don't know what is.
