Being There

June 7, 2007

This is more of a tech-y thing right now, but imagine you could compile all the known photos of a particular event—say, The Beatles at Shea Stadium or Radio Head in Grant Park—into one seamless environment that builds a 3-D rendering of that event. Imagine you could navigate through the scene and zoom in and out. How sweet would that be?

Blaise Aguera y Arcas is an architect at Microsoft Live Labs, and the co-creator of something called Photosynth that does just that.

Watch his presentation and then dig into what could be an amazing development if put in the hands of rock geeks. Seriously amazing possibilities here.

What event would you use in Photosynth? What if there was a Videosynth?
