The Mountain Goats on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert

January 4, 2010

The Mountain Goats: Tiny Desk Concert : NPR

John Darnielle in fine solo form. He plays two oldies ("Color in Your Cheeks," "Going to Georgia") and two newbies ("Hebrews 11:40," "Psalms 40:2").

It's funny that they point this out because I was wondering:

Also, it should be noted that Darnielle drew a large and admiring crowd for this show, even though it appears in the video that it was attended exclusively by a photographer and the giant blond head of Lars Gotrich. Trust me: We wouldn't have missed this one for anything.

The recovery from his flub on "Going to Georgia" is a perfect example of one of the many reasons we fans love this guy. You can just tell he is a good person. Watching this makes me realize it's been too long since I've seen the Mountain Goats. Note to self: don't miss them next time, even if they play a crummy venue on a weeknight.
