Quasar Wut-Wut (acoustic)

So Schubas has this listed 1/19 as the opener for the solo Colin Meloy (of Decemberists fame) show. Is this true? Because I am so there.

This is 100% true. Our own QWW will be playing an acoustic set to open the show, which will be awesome.

Wednesday, January 19th, 9pm - Schubas- Opening for Colin Meloy of The
Decemberists

Tired of promises of "really good shows"? Well then this isn't going
to help, because Baby, this is a Really Good Show. Sure, we here at
Camp Quasar throw that phrase around almost as much as "Where's the
beef?", but this time it's true. This is a really, really, really good show.
A Rare one in fact. Some might say, "Once in a lifetime". What's so
special about it? Three reasons:

1) We're opening for Colin Meloy of The Decemberists. If you don't
know who he is, check out their website (http://www.decemberists.com) and
download some songs. They're a really great band out of Portland and
are doing phenomenally well with the albums and the touring and the
people and the guy with the thing. So the lead singer / songwriter, who's
a fine fellow and great lyricist, is doing a solo acoustic tour and
making his Chicago stop at Schuba's, which will be a fantastic room to see
him in. For this reason alone you should go to this show.

2) QWW has NEVER done an actual, government-sanctioned, USDA-approved
acoustic show before. Ever. It's going to be really cool; there will
be two members on stage at a time, and it will rotate; so all of QWW
will be up, just in different pairings. Like our favorite ballet, "The
Soft Bumblebee Cuddly Smushy Poo-Poo Suite no. 102". You know the one.
It will only be 30 minutes of acoustic Quasar, but it's a rare
opportunity to see the Wut-Wuts metaphorically naked on stage, as opposed to
the usual literal stage nudity. No gimmicks, no chaps, no electric
tubas. For this reason alone you should go to this show.

3) Wednesdays are Prince Spaghetti days. You can have your spaghetti
at 7, and then allow it to digest pleasantly along to the acoustic
sounds of QWW. For this reason alone you should go to this show.

So there - three good reasons to go. Be warned: it is $14 at the door,
but you can purchase tickets ahead of time (not a bad idea because
Colin will probably pack the place) for $12. BUT, this is a measly fee for
such a night of entertainment. Bring your ponytail and get ready for
some serious acousticy goodness.

Schubas - Wednesday, January 19th
QWW on at 9pm, followed by Shelley Short, followed by Colin Meloy

Our own Derek Phillips hooked us up with the show, and therefore he is awesome. And will receive $1 off admission in recognition thereof.

Thanks to everybody who came out! It was a great show. For those of you who missed it, you'll soon be able to download the Quasars' set from emusic. We'll, of course, post the link when that's available.
